Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Jennifer Vitalia is an Italian Fine Artist, Body Painter, Photographer, as well a free standing Sculptor in her free time. Her art background goes back to her youth, where she spent time learning to freehand draw under her grandmother’s teachings, who was a school art teacher. As Jennifer got older she moved on into majoring in Marketing Art and Graphic Design, Photography with a minor in Visual Arts and began to live as an artist as she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Art is my life always has been and always will. It is an addiction I refuse to give up. I yearn for the paintbrush and creative photography as if it was air. It is that important to me”
Armed with several paintbrushes, colored acrylics, oils, spray-cans, body paints, and large canvas, Jennifer began painting in an abstract style. She felt compelled to chase the visual forms of emotion believing in more depth of experience, rather than just producing an obvious interpretation. Her techniques of a “no rules” attitude, blending degrees of colors, pressure of brush strokes, incorporating few written words, and creating visual forms that are both existent and imaginative, seemed to come together in breathtaking pieces that hold you in front of the canvas fascinating your eyes and inspiring your thoughts. Though predominately painting in the abstract & avant-garde styles, Jennifer Vitalia also is working her ideas into the art of body painting & photography, where she turns the human form into a moving canvas of expression & idea. Her camera work, primarily focuses on highlighting specific colors and the positioning of forms to produce striking abstract & vocal messages. “I try not to think, but rather be elusive to my own mind, I want my emotions to guide my creations, not what I’ve been taught to think.”
Jennifer Vitalia’s contributions to the art of painting, body painting, & photography have grown over the years. Her work has made her a Feature Artist of the 2009 & 2010 Fashion Weeks in NYC, the 2009/2010 Latin Mixx Awards Showcased Artwork, Artshows in NYC, works in books International Contemporary Masters 2010 & 2011, Contemporary Artist 2011, featured interview in Fine Art Magazine 2010, Arthamptons, on websites Fineartmagazine.com, ArtMine.com, AskMen.com, Maxim.com, Aol.com, ThisIs50.com, the 2010 American Breast Cancer Society Benefit, the NYE Body Painting at Trump Plaza, the Cancer Benefit “Silhouettes & Sounds”, “Rock the Block” Americas Next Top Model Art event, featured in the Chelsea Art Directory. ARTIST STATEMENT
“IF I CANNOT LIVE WHERE THE EVERYDAY THOUGHT IS DIFFERENT, THEN I HAVE TO PAINT IT. SHOW ME THE UNSEEN: THE UNEXPECTED. LET ME GET LOST IN A ROOM OF PAINT AND BLANK CANVAS AND I WILL CREATE A WORLD WHERE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. EACH OF MY PAINTINGS WHETHER IT BE ON CANVAS OR ON PEOPLE STOP TIME FOR ONLY A SECOND AND ALLOW THE MIND TO BE FREE”.
